Touch-Ups?
Not all tattoos require touching up, but if things went awry while healing, you may be in need of a touch-up. This service takes less time than your original tattoo, as we just tend to specific areas in the tattoo. We want your tattoo looking top notch as if it were brand new! For tattoos done by artists at Storm Horse Tattoo, up to one year after the completed tattoo, we offer a one time touch-up for a small fee of $40 +hst. Please note if there is an exceptional amount of re-working, or you wish to add to your tattoo, this special fee no longer applies and you will be charged the regular rate.
Please wait 8 weeks after your tattoo was completed before scheduling a touch-up appointment.
Swimming?
Swimming is so fun, right? But not when it damages your tattoo or leads to an infection! Please do not submerge your tattoo for 3 weeks after it has been completed. This means stay out of hot tubs, pools, and lakes. Also, refrain from using saunas or going to hot yoga classes for 3 weeks until your healing is complete.
+18 years old?
You must be at least 18 years old with valid I.D. to get tattooed at Storm Horse Tattoo.
No Parental consent for minors. No exceptions.
PARKING?
There’s plenty of paid street parking on Dundas; 1hr free parking on Euclid, and a Green P Parking lot (off Dundas 1 block West of the studio).
pregnant?
No, we do not tattoo anyone who is pregnant or nursing, for preventative health reasons.
walk-ins?
Yes we can take walk-in tattoos - if we have time that day!
We also have smaller pre-drawn flash designs for you to choose from on our Instagram, or use a design of your own.
exercise?
Healing is a fragile time for your tattoo and it will need special care for the 2 weeks right after your appointment. Please avoid activities that can cause friction, rubbing or pulling in the areas. Refrain from swimming or hot yoga for 3 weeks after your appointment.
scars?
We frequently do scar cover-ups. Usually, they need to be a minimum of one year old before we can tattoo over them - the older they are, the better they will take ink. Scar tattoos are custom designs created on an individualized basis requiring consultation for assessment and to discuss the specifications.
illness?
Please reschedule your appointment if you are ill. Tattooing strains your immune system and it will interfere with healing. There is no penalty for rescheduling due to illness and we’d like your help to keep the studio a safe environment for all (also, many symptoms can be indicators of Covid-19). drunk / high?
It’s a good idea to avoid drinking alcohol 24hrs before your appointment. Alcohol can thin the blood and adversely affect the tattoo process and healing.
Please arrive sober to your tattoo appointment.
cover-ups?
We absolutely do cover-ups! Whether you’ve outgrown or dislike a current tattoo that you have, we have a refined process for tattooing over it and giving you a new tattoo that you’ll love. The designs for cover ups require an in depth consultation, and are always custom drawn to suit you. Even if you have a solid black tattoo, you’ll be surprised at what we can do! Dream up your new tattoo idea, and drop us a line when you’re ready for a fresh start and we’ll get things rolling with a consultation.
other artist’s art?
There are so many talented Fine Artists out there with potential tattoo designs! If you found art that you love, and want it duplicated as your tattoo please be responsible and support your Artist out there by employing them under a commission, and/or be respectful and reach out to contact them and get their permission before bringing their design in for a tattoo. If you’ve followed these steps, we will tattoo art from our fellow Fine Artists!
aftercare?
REMOVE BANDAGE :
Clear Bandage (Saniderm): Leave on for 2-3 Days. Remove in shower, peel down gently. There will be a build up of Plasma fluid beneath the bandage during this time. In the instance the bandage leaks, or skin gets irritated, remove the bandage promptly and continue to the next step.
Regular Bandage (Telfa): Remove Bandage in 3-5 hours. Do Not re-bandage your tattoo.
WASH TATTOO :
After removing the bandage, wash with unscented soap and water.
Be gentle and thorough. Rinse well. Pat dry with a paper towel or clean towel.
MOISTURIZE :
Two days after removing the bandage, you can apply a thin layer of unscented lotion.
Aveeno Unscented lotion is recommended. Do not use oil or petroleum based products.
Always wash your hands before touching your healing tattoo.
BE GOOD :
Do not scratch or pick at the scabs. Your tattoo may feel itchy as a normal part of the healing process.
Just pat it or apply a thin layer of lotion to alleviate the itchiness.
PROTECT :
Protect your tattoo from the elements; do not submerge your tattoo in water for the first three weeks.
No swimming, hot yoga, baths, saunas etc. Keep out of direct sunlight for the first month.
Apply spf30 sunscreen or higher whenever it may be exposed to sunny weather.
